Errmm what do you mean? Fly-by-wire is a reality on all commercial aircrafts since late 80's. It's not possible on any commercial aircraft to regain manual analog control. It simply doesn't exist anymore.
What happened was an exception not due to automation but due to the company (Boeing) mishandling the situation where they knew that this problem could occur on these airplane models.

The same could happen to Volvo's automation if the brand does not handle these type of issues properly. But this is the way forward.
