I'm trying to work out why the 217bhp 2.5T Mondeo has a listed as having a top speed of 150mph, whereas my slightly lighter 227bhp S40 T5 is listed as 149mph.
Also, the newer V40 T5 geartronic (254bhp) is also listed as 149mph top speed.
Appreciate these cars are low pressure turbos, but you'd think 254bhp would be enough for 155mph.
Do stage 1 remaps hit that speed?

Don't forget the at those speeds air resistance is massive , It starts to get huge over 80 mph small differences in drag make a big difference in top speed .
that's why a 1000 bhp formula 1 car with 600 kg of weight can "only" do just over 200 mph, If you took the wings off , probably 300+ mph but it would not be stable of course .
