Its a a well known xc60 issue, something to do with failed glue primer at the factory if I recall.
Windscreen repairers use a very nifty cheesewire-like screen removal system these days, it may be worth getting a quote for reinstall from them if you are out of warranty.
Yes a vital safety part but if you are not getting it done by the dealer , ensure it is done to volvos method and using their parts , it is not always ( if at all ) the same as the mobile people use and therefore not volvo approved ..
for example the Volvo way uses a bonding agent which has to be heated in an oven to 80 C before use , and the glass and surround have to be primed . have you ever seen an independent doing this ?
