Don't know your model but most Volvos have a key point on or around the boot/tailgate area. Usually"plugged" to avoid dirt. It is prised out with the key and the boot opened. You can then get to the bonnet release and or battery.
I've had to do this several ( many) times having left the parking/ position lights on!!
