I don't know if the batteries are doing their thing or not but acceleration from standing or at speed is flawless, no hint of hesitation, so I assume they are.

Did you follow a run-in procedure for the engine?
I am trying to keep it low revved, but have stepped up to 3.5k rpm, by accidentally shifting to manual mode...
