Unless the repaired knob is firmly secured as far down on the stick as possible there will still be problems
I get my buttons from damaged knobs at the breakers for free.

i tried doing it the ipd way and my fingers are to big i tried doing it your way but kept dropping the spring and this is a mixture of the ipd one and mine.
