The trouble with motoring forums is the majority of posts are from people who are experiencing problems. You rarely hear people saying that everything is working just fine, even though that is what the majority of owners find most of the time.
My XC70 is just north of 202,000 miles and is still going strong. Other than standard servicing items, I've only had new intercooler and flexiplate (the auto equivalent of the flywheel). So far, it has been one of the most reliable and cheap to maintain cars I've ever owned. Of course, there will be some dodgy ones out there, but that is true for any make and model.
