Many AWD Volvo's do have a bit if driveline shunt that is evident on torque reversal (i.e. D to R or on/off throttle) - this is the combined lash in the gearbox, front differential, angle drive, propshaft joints etc. and sounds like a click.

The first action is always a software update as that adds the adaption modes which were not there up until this fault developed . Every dealer has had plenty of information on this , it was sent out and training done 5 years ago .
