Seriously, I've never seen it on any car I have owned in my life. My V70 came with 4 flaking wheels

Mazda set the bar. We had a 2006 Mazda 3. The corroded wheels were replaced with new ones twice during the 3 year warranty when it was serviced at a Mazda dealer.
Same with a 2012 one, but they only changed them once; they decided the corrosion on the new wheels after 12 months was "normal".
The diamond cut wheels on my old Mondeo ST220 corroded like mad in less than 12 months ( not covered by Ford corrosion warranty!). Yet, the painted Ford RS ones I used for winter tyres did not corrode at all !
