Default D4 cf D5 on the 2019 SPA XC60

For reasons best not discussed I shall be moving from a 2014 D5 R Design with Polestar to a 2019 XC60 D4 with Polestar.

How different is the metal work of the D4 and D5 engines now (given that they are both 4 cylinder engines)

Is the difference all due to electronic controls or is is due to changes in camshaft design, injector design and or other electro mechanical means.

How feasible is it to goose up a D4 to a D5 performance level.

Thanks for any comments.
