Your probably right it is a normal lead acid type, it sounds like I should get in touch with a Volvo garage.
Just as a bit of info, when I looked at replacing the support battery which has a cca120 and 8 ah, the prices coming up was staggering, around £530, yes £530. As mine is only 8 years old (just) I decided to leave it.

You wont need the support battery it leads a very easy life ... I've not heard of a faulty one in the 10 years they have been used .
The Yuasa battery is superb , but it is not the AGM correct type , get a volvo quote first .
