I believe AW-1 is a slightly lower viscosity fluid and the main reason for the change is economy reasons.
From MY12 Volvo switched from JWS3309 to AW-1 for all models except XC90.
The information already supplied gives you a number of good options, but there is no harm in using either so long as a full flush is done.
