My 740 has the original B230K engine (not heron) and Prufrock has a couple of these cars too. There's still quite a few of them about. These were available until the carb'd 740 was given the heron engine at the end of 1986. DWM and others on here have a 740 with the heron engine, as I did too until last year. And yes, the 'H' in B230KH is sometimes used to make a distinction between the early and late forms of the engine.

I thought I should add, there was also a 2 litre carb'd engine used in the 740 but not available in the UK. Only LHD. It was the B200K and used the Solex-Cisac with a manual choke, just like the 240s.
