Absolutely !
In simple terms there is a huge difference between when various manufacturers decided to
introduce them and when they became
mandatory by law.
Many manufacturers were fitting them several years before they became mandatory but an example here is that in 2008 I bought an April 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 Diesel ( Mercedes ). It did not have a DPF.
In 2010 I bought a March 2006 Volvo S60 D5 E4 and it had a DPF.
From that it can easily be seen that it was not mandatory at that time and two different manufacturers from exactly the same period in 2006 took different paths re fitting DPFs.
