"Sealed for life" is a load of rubbish... Change the fluid.

I've read the owner's manual of my car (6 speed) & there wasn't an interval specified for changing the fluid, unless the vehicle was used in arduous conditions (like towing or as a taxi).

That means its highly likely that there's plenty of Volvo's on the road that never see a transmission fluid change, simply because its an option on Volvo's service schedule. So much so, if you mention a fluid change to many dealerships (not all though), they give you the "sealed for life" blurb because they see it as an option, not something that should be done as part of routine maintenance.

Here's how I see it... If the vehicle is used for towing or as a taxi, then you'd probably want to change it more often than a car that didn't do any towing at all.

A Volvo Specialist advised me that under normal driving conditions, the fluid should be fine for around 45,000-50,000 miles. If towing or used as a taxi, then change it every 30,000 miles.

You can change the fluid earlier if you wish... there isn't a set in stone interval (not for the 6 speed anyway).

Newer models with the 8 speed transmission (2014 onwards) may have an interval, but the older ones (pre 2014) didn't.
