Looking on American parts sites? Looks like there is one that fits 1981-1993 and also one that fits 1990-1993.

So it's possible that I either have wrong bulb holder or wrong rear lights.

I found 3 part numbers so far. 1372043A, 1372043, 1372044. So I think the correct holder for this light unit and I'm sorted. But then again I might just hard wire it anyway. Looking at the problems most people seem to have with the rear lights.

No doubt there'll be more questions on this car as it's new to me and a project along side the V70.
