As I recall, it is indeed close and a function of Motor Mount condition...depending on how much (or little) they have sagged, you might be able to sneak the bolt in there...because its so close, simply loosening the transmission mount (without removing Driveshaft) may give the extra clearance needed...otherwise, the threaded rod solution is certainly an option.
