Is reverse top left or bottom right?
If top left you have the Renault box and it will be the linkage bushes that need replacing - most likely front linkage bushes by the gearbox. New bushes cost about a tenner and take 20 mins to fit.
If reverse bottom right you have the Volvo box: if so, I have no idea what the problem is.
