Almost every car manufacturer has a shipping mode on modern cars, used to ensure that the new batteries do not drain too much through a vehicle sitting in a yard or warehouse for months and months and months....

The 3 month rule does apply to the car in "transport" mode there is a form in the glovebox of every new car which must be signed every 3 months with time and date of charge . max speed is 20 mph by the way :-) with current sales figures ( up again 11% so far this year to this time last year ) I can't see any new volvo hanging around for more than a few weeks ..
