Default V40 D4 SeLux Climate module problem

Hi Guys - my wife has a 2015 V40 D4 with a problem - the heated seats are intermittent. When they fail they both go off together. I took the car to the local Volvo garage who said the problem was in the climate control module. They tried to reload the firmware to the module, but after 3 attempts concluded that there was a fault in the module. I was offered the option of a replacement module - but at close to £1000 felt that my wife could live without heated seats.
Since then I have bought a second hand module - the same part number -31398642. Only there are three buttons at the bottom that are blank which are for options - Park Assist, Lane Keeping Aid and BLIS. I have looked at the original and it looks as if the Park assist button is actually functioning on both boards (just the plastic cover is unmarked on the replacement) and that the other two are plug in options that could be moved across.
However, I was warned by the Volvo mechanic that a second hand board would have to be reprogrammed to the car and that this does not always work. I am also concerned that if I changed over the switches before driving the car to the Volvo garage to be reprogrammed - that there may be damage done to the new module.
My thought was to get the Volvo garage to change over the switches, install the new module and reprogramme it. Anyone have alternative thoughts?
