I Believe the 95 engine was sorted in the factory hence the good oil consumption , there was a rumour at the time that Volvo fell out with Renault at the time and were getting raw renault units to go in the volvos rather than volvo specification ones ...

I worked on many P1800ES cars when new got them running sweet i still have a new throttle cable in a drawer .. and a pair of those stainless steel trim strips along the top of the rear wings . B20E 135 bhp , renault based B20F 120 - the B20F was only fitted in the 145E wasnt it? All the 1800ES i knew had B20E engines same as the 144 GL and 1800E
