As for the argument about twin pipes from the engine back, most V8s have a crossover piece in the middle of the system somewhere so both sides are linked, V6s sometimes do and other V6s simply have a Y piece that joins both banks then exit through a twin tail-piped back box.
All depends on the car for the original design, entirely up to you whether you keep the twin tailpipe trim or buy a new one on fleabay :
