Kc,

You should not have any problems w/5.5" wide rims and tires unless the wheels have way to much offset or backspacing.

1800S, 1800E, and ES cars can accommodate up to 8" wide rims and 205 wide tires with no rubbing if the rims have the correct backspacing and offset. Two other things to look out for is check that the springs have not sagged to much due to age, or if it has been lowered excessively.
