The lack of a single flash at locking time means that one or more of the conditions for setting the alarm have not been met.
Usually, it's the bonnet switch not closing correctly and an opening and slamming of the bonnet itself will sometimes reset it, but the correct procedure is to plug in VIDA and let the car tell you what's wrong.
