I had a similar problem with slow changing up from first when I first got my 240 about 20K miles ago. It took two or three ATF flushes before it was changing nicely (the fluid it came with was basically black, not good) but since then it hasn't been an issue so yeah, ATF change will definitely help. The changing down issue on the other hand is a good head scratcher. Have fun with it!
