The cost of an overdrive relay isn't much different from the cost of a bypass plate for it. When my overdrive failed I chose the IPD bypass kit, as I never actually use the OD lockout button on the shifter. Also meant that I didn't need to diagnose the fault, as I was simply disabling the ability to disengage overdrive.
