I once ordered a Jaguar XK8 in ruby red with cream leather. When it arrived at the dealership, they phoned me to inform me that it had arrived with a significant dent in the roof. I had a choice of whether to have it repaired or replaced by a new factory order. Since red is a colour that is very photosensitive and fades variably, depending on its chemistry, over time, I decided to have it replaced. Which it was, but I chose a green one with teal green leather and a few extras they threw in free to sweeten the pill. It was a great car except that every time I drove it for more than half an hour, it gave me a bad back. I replaced it with a more practical Land Cruiser 4.2 diesel which I still have to this day, although it’s been off the road for the last six months with an expensive brake issue.
