Pull the heater module down and forward at the same time, you may need to wriggle it round a bit, and it will pop off 2 spring clips at the top. Disconnect car battery before removing cables to that module or you’ll set an airbag warning.
Clock fault won’t cause the cutting out and limp mode. I’d check fuel filter first for that as it often gets missed at services
