Typical of a kinked fuel transfer pipe in the tank - it's a saddle tank as it has space for the propshaft on the AWD versions, if the transfer plumbing is at fault, you run out of fuel with around 1/8th tank showing on the gauge as the car can see the remaining fuel, but not access it.

If you have vida, you can check what the 2 fuel sensors are showing, with a low tank, the passenger side of the tank should be more-or-less empty and all the remaining fuel should be in the driverside of the tank (assume RHD vehicle).
