The head gasket is about 4 layers of steel not a traditional fibre gasket, if the head is leaking coolant into the combustion chamber you MUST get the head checked for flatness AND more importantly the top of the block face .
There are about 5 different thicknesses of head gasket determined by the pattern of of 4mm holes punched into a corner of the gasket, ensure you get the correct one to match the old gasket.

The engine has been completely dismantled and it is obvious that the head gasket has failed. The head and block are completely flat.
