I have been chasing down this issue with a d5 205bhp twin turbo...it's a pain.

In my case, there is no loss of performance, just the same error message.

The problem was diagnosed (professionally following a smoke test and diagnostic) as the TMAP on the intercooler - at the moment I can't be sure as I tried an aftermarket part and it's the wrong one so I'll probably have to buy the Volvo part and pay the expense.

I also know for sure that the sensor on the inlet is likely to be faulty and will replace that too (it was absolutely encrusted with 'gunk') byt that's a 5 minute fix, and I can get a suitable Bosch part.

One thing that can supposedly cause this issue is a dirty fuel filter - I would check that as a matter of course.
