One end connects to the vacuum hose on the inlet manifold and the other end goes to the injection unit.
Next task is to find the right connecting nipples, tubes, etc.

Good detective work! Blowing that diagram up further suggests it's something to do with the charcoal canisters to prevent petrol fumes entering the atmosphere and if not that, either the PCV system or it's for improved drivability when cold. There's also the possibility that it is to increase the airflow throw the K-Jetronic system when the air-con is in use.
Without a key to that diagram i'm guessing at the functions of some of those bits but those are possibilities - it seems to link in to the metering side of the throttle butterfly in the K-Jet and go via the idle speed adjuster/valve.
