I have no experience of LPG on a Volvo - but I can recommend it in relation to my conversion of a 2.4 petrol PT Cruiser (not by me personally! - a specialist job at a reasonable price).
It was a great success - super-cheap to run and a real environmental feel-good factor - not totally green but much less polluting than petrol or diesel.
Don't believe the cr*p you may read about exploding tanks - they don't because, being a pressure vessel, they're much stronger than any conventional fuel tank.
The only slight downside for me was more frequent fill-ups but an XC90 has room for a really big tank without compromising too much load-space.
Well worth taking seriously IMHO...
