Hi, 'Phil000',

If it is not an indelicate question, why is specific fuel consumption so important? With a low mileage such as you indicate, the additional cost is marginal. I run a petrol V70 that returns around 30 MPG under mixed driving. The car cost me well under £1000 two years and 8000 miles ago. To date, I have spent £1450 on petrol and have around 8 gallons left in the tank.

The low depreciation makes these very economical cars to run and the savings pay for an awful lot of fuel. Factor in the costs of manufacture and ultimate disposal being amortised over 20 plus years. and you will have a very 'green' car in my opinion!

Regards, John.

PS I could if you wish also put you in touch with a very good garage - although not a Volvo indie - just down the road in Melton who look after our cars and are very reasonable.
