I'm the wrong person to ask, I have an autobox on the S70 so no LSD for me (not the gearbox kind anyway........ only joking). I did have an LSD on my 240 which made it rather fun to drive.
I would imagine that yes, it will be a gearbox off job. You would have to remove both driveshafts at least so I would budget for new driveshaft inner boots (might as well while you can get to them) as well.
