My 2016 notes on a 1957 PV444. Note to turn to full on to find the detent that you push in. Hope it helps.



April 22-30, 2016: Ignition switch: My initial ride through Merryall ended with a stuck ignition switch. Disconnected the battery, removed the two small screws under the dash and pushed the ignition back through the dash. In the full on position, there is a detent that allows the tumbler to be removed. Cannot remove when switch is in the dash. The problem is deeper into the switch, and cannot be repaired. With the tumbler out, you can rotate the switch back to the left with a screwdriver. I will reinstall, but need to be super careful to turn only one click to the right. A heavy hand will cause problems!

The armored cable appears only to house the + wire to the coil. It does not appear to act also as a resistor, as perhaps in some earlier models. See following references:
