I think that was caused by people not changing the fluid and filter regularly enough. Apparently clutch particles can affect the hydraulics. It doesn't seem to happen on the best maintained boxes but Volvo do have a policy action that covers a vehicle until the end of 2019. As long as the car has a FVSH there shouldn't be any arguments if the box needs changing.
