Having driven both, in my view a pre-ME7 T5 automatic is a much nicer car to drive. Smooth gear changes, effortless power and totally reliable. I have owned a 1998 V70 T5 for more than 10 years, have increased the mileage from 99k to 186k and the engine and gearbox perform just the same now as they did when I first bought the car.
