It's not enough to be told, surely you felt it too? such play both alters feedback through the front wheels and causes knocking noises on uneven roads.
If that ball joint really does need replacing then you can get
a pair of LEMFÖRDER ball joints for a cheaper price, and the quality is far superior to OE ones. Or go for Febi Bilstein ... cheaper but less durable. Best choice would be Meyle HD but, unfortunately, they don't produce them separately, only as part of the whole control arm.
