You don't have to use the factory amp. Behind the old radio, usually tucked away there is a speaker connector. The speaker leads from the factory amp feed back to behind the dash and connect with the standard factory speaker wiring. You could try driving the speakers directly from your new radio. The factory amp is OK but its quite an old design, many new radio have built in amps which are just as powerful and can sound better.
