Hi jotka

I have an S90 D5 PowerPulse MY 2017. I have an accurate (tankful) record of diesel consumption from 9k to 24k miles. The highest tankful result is 48.5mpg, the lowest is 42.6mpg. The current rolling average is 45.1mpg. The best results include long trips on motorways on UK summer holidays, the worst include local short trips in Derbyshire with predominantly town/city driving in the depths of winter. I love the power of this engine whilst hopefully driving smoothly and sensibly.

I have used the highest grade diesel from 14k miles on. "Cheap" Costco diesel (so-called "premium") gave me a warning light from the O2 sensor and very sooty exhaust trims. Using high grade fuel is obviously expensive but solves both problems. I can't reliably distinguish consumption between the two fuel grades. I too switch off the stop/start every trip.

I suspect you are suffering from a tight engine and city driving but am still surprised at how low your figures are, given my experience.
