Have you tried using Teflon tape on the pipe threads? I know it’s for fluids but could work with gas too?

No, not tried. I'll give it a go. Tried ordinary silicone, no good as pipes gets really hot. Maybe new o rings PTFE tape and heat proof silicone next!
