Thanks for your reply. I've had the fuel filter done just last week and it's happened twice since.
I know for sure that the tank was less than 1/4 full last week but can't remember for sure if it was like that when it's happened in the past.
If the high pressure engine side pump was at fault, surely I would see some kind of symptom of that when running at motorway speeds and on acceleration?
It runs absolutely fine 99% of the time and never misses a beat on the motorway so I can't belive it's anything too horrendous/life ending.
Interesting that it took a while to trace the problem for you, that's exactly what I'm seeing now.
