Ahh I thought it was probably that. Like Derek says scoring like that usually means the seals will leak.
This reminds me - I do need to check mine before I start thinking about replacing the front cover.
60 quid for a replacement eh? That's about what it would cost here in Holland to have one made - if you know someone in the UK you might be able to get one made for less than the Volvo part
