Just thought I put in my 2c for the people driving or flying....
SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) & BA (among others) fly from:
London LHR to Gothenburg nonstop.
Also possible to fly ex Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham (and seasonal ex Bristol) to Copenhagen/Stockholm with a change to Gothenburg all with SAS (or grab a seat on the train directly from Copenhagen airport to Gothenburg - 3 hour journey).
As for driving over, don't forget the ferry crossing between Puttgarden in northern Germany to Rodby in Denmark. Takes only 45 min, can be booked online or pay on arrival and costs around €60 for a one-way ticket. One can avoid this bridge by driving via Denmark (still have the bridge at Store Belt) but adds lots and lots of time and miles.
The Oresundsbridge not only gives you stunning views of either Malmo (my hometown!) or Copenhagen depending on direction and the very same motorway actually continues to Gothenburg.
Some pics:

One can see the curvature of the bridge, only built like this due to good looks!

And here's the bridge seen from Malmo on a beatiful day.
