Default Rear axle drive

Being very familiar with the vw/audi haldex system i was shocked to find out the rear axle drive (via haldex diff) is driven from an angle drive from fwd differential to the off side front wheel.
So in effect if your OSF wheel isn't turning nothing can go to your back wheels.

Once you know this the 4 motion system is great and with some counter intuitive spirited driving you will always get going in normal uk Conditions.

How is drive on the volvo system transmitted to the back?

Is it an independent output from the diff that always drives or basically a box fitted on the front drive shaft sending drive back?

I suspect the same as other euro boxes the latter as the cheapest and easiest system just useful to know in the winter you need to get the os front wheel spinning.

Btw this is how the utube videos make subaru or any system with a torson diff look good and haldex poor. When in real life both work very well.
