Hopefully you did use stainless steel rivets, and not the s h i t made of alloy....eh, the silicone will held it in place.
Silicone is a damp penetrable material, take care about protection of this!
Never use standart silicon on naked steel.
There is a special silicon one available, protected against damp penetration.
I prefer polyurethane.
