As you have to undo the tension on the belts to change them, its not much more work to replace the tensioner itself. It's the tensioner that was the offending part and the official Volvo recall due to premature failure (taking the main AUX belt out as it failed) so it's an absolute "no brainer" to get it done at the same time as the belts and as you say, it's not that expensive with only an additional few minutes of labour to swap it out. Pix below of when I did mine last summer. The old unit on the right is the OEM VOLVO recall replacement item which was done 5 years ago and despite still working fine, it was up on time & mileage so it got replaced
