Apparently that is no longer the case. The D denotes a diesel engine but the 5 denotes the power range into which the engine falls. I suspect that at the top end of the power range the only diesel engines are the 5 pots but there are 5 pot diesels with D4 badging. There is a thread on here which delves into this D# badging nonsense.
