I am just about to do my major service this weekend and I have a new genuine Volvo fuel filter to install. The last one I put in is a Mann filter (supposedly suppliers to Volvo) and it has occasionally started poorly in cold weather since then - not something that ever happened before. I'll see if it makes a difference.
If it's a coincidence - and the problem isn't solved - then I have ordered a set of 5 new Bosch Duraterm GLP144 glow plugs which I will install later. The originals have done 170,000 miles (well, I haven't changed them in the 100,000 miles of my ownership), so they haven't done badly!
